Sunset over the Dune_

To get this shot of the sunset in Empire, Michigan, I had to bear some pretty fierce winds and a sandblasting. The wind coming off Lake Michigan was quite strong and it would pick up the dry sand and throw it inland. I’m not sure why this suprised me, as this was exactly how the national seashore’s dunes form, but it did. So I hunkered down cupping my hands around the back of the camera, and, after composing, fired off my three shots with my eyes closed. Fortunately, since I kept the camera/tripod combo low to the ground, and buried in the sand, it stayed still enough for the shots.
