Dunes Overlook

Empire Dunes BoardwalkThe end of the Empire Dunes Trail, culminates in an amazing overlook of the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The last few hundred feet you walk on a wooden boardwalk, interlaced and swept over, with sand from the adjacent dunes. The first time I saw this view I was driving around town and saw a billboard with a similar perspective, used in Michigan State’s “Pure Michigan” advertising campaign. I have to admit, Michigan really had their stuff together for this form of advertisement. I mean, who doesn’t like to see some beautiful picture of an amazing vacation hotspot when they are driving to their 9 to 5?

Oh, my gosh, I can’t believe I didn’t know this was there when we went up north! WOW.

And yeah, I think the state did a really great job with their “Pure Michigan” campaign. It’s always given me goosebumps and made me want to visit. I’m so happy I got to go last year! 🙂
