Darkened Pinnacle of Resistance

Posted: December 1, 2012 in HDR, Michigan, Nikon D90

_22248 copyUnfortunately (or perhaps fortunately) we weren’t at the North Breakwater Lighthouse in Frankfort, Michigan in the winter time. I say unfortunately, because the lighthouse is pretty far out into the lake on a breakwater foundation, which results in large splashes of water over the breakwater and base, when the winds really whip. These splashes then solidify into ice and encapsulate the lightbouse in the freezing temperatures. From pictures I have seen, this is pretty impressive and would have lended itself to the HDR look quite nicely, but as I said, we were not there in the winter…

On the other hand, I say fortunately, because it was cold enough in the fall!
