Say Friend and Enter

When my wife and I came to Fort Worden State Park, we had no idea what to expect. We had just been told about an hour previous that if we were interested in some good photos, and a scenic local, rich with local history, we should check out Fort Worden. So, without being armed with any other information we traveled a few blocks up the road to the Fort Worden complex. Upon entering the whole place looks like some mental hospital, and gives off this freaky, unnerving vibe (In fact portions of the movie “The Ring” were filmed at this very place). Although, Fort Worden is actually an old military encampment, which along with two other maritime forts, served to protect Puget Sound from naval assault from the early 1900’s to the mid 1950’s. Now that the Fort has been decommissioned, it serves as a State Park for the enjoyment of campers, history buffs, and school children on field trips.
