Sunrise Lodge

One morning we planned on going from our rental cabin in Ashford, to the Sunrise Lodge and Visitor Center within the Rainier National Park. Due to some construction and a few pit stops, it took us until just after lunchtime to get there, and we were quite hungry. The park system has it all figured out… once you are in the park, there’s nowhere to get food, except at the park lodges. So, you end up paying quite handsomely for an adequate hamburger with a midget bag of chips. But honestly, for the cheap, $15 fee to get in the park for a week, I didn’t really mind having to pay a bit much for the food. We ate that meal at the lodge pictured here, which is situated in just one of the most fantastic locations, with an up close and personal view of Mt. Rainier.
