Bow Before Giraffe Mech Warrior

Posted: October 17, 2012 in HDR, Illinois, Nikon D90

Who would have ever known I would have entitled a post “Bow Before Giraffe Mech Warrior?” But guess what… that just happened. I actually found out many things in Chicago “just happen,” but that’s another story.

This statue is actually entitled Flamingo, and is the work of artist Alexander Calder. Multiple viewing angles of the structure will yield different visual perspective but to me, it was definitely a Mech-Giraffe. In any case, the statue was created to contrast with the massive geometrically boring buildings directly behind it; which to me anyway, is why this picture is so striking. The contrast in angle, form, color, and light between the two structures is pretty impressive.
