Curtiss AT-9 Jeep

Posted: October 10, 2012 in HDR, Nikon D40, Ohio

This aircraft was built in 1942, and designed as a dual engine trainer aircraft. The Air Force Museum’s website claims the Curtiss AT-9 was not easy to fly or land, so apparently that made it perfect for training!

Is it just me, or does this one look like some sort of 1st generation precursor to the Naboo fighter plane in Star Wars? I mean, I’m not entirely certain (there was a painful amount of Jar Jar Binks in that movie which crowded out anything good).

Thanks. The lighting isn’t the greatest in the hanger, but with the aid of a good tripod and a relatively tourist-free afternoon, I managed to get good results.
