An Evening on the Pier

Posted: September 20, 2012 in HDR, Nikon D90, Washington

The shot above is the pier and docks at Dyes Inlet on Puget Sound. We came here after dinner one night to take in Puget Sound at Sunset. The views did not dissapoint, however, it was a bit frustrating because the dock is so prone to movement that it’s virtually impossible to get a clean picture. Eventually I tweaked the settings enough to get a passable shot here, looking back at the pier and boat ramp.

Since the sound is just a big extension of the ocean, the water level rises and falls pretty dramatically throught the day, which is the main reason for the long spikes you see protruding through the dock (They allow the dock to rise or fall, but anchor it in the same place side to side).
