The Winking Bridge

Posted: August 27, 2012 in Nikon D40, Ohio

When I first started to learn how to process HDR images, I set out to shoot HDR all the time. I shot HDR everywhere, and in every situation. I soon learned however, that not all scenes can benefit from HDR. In fact, if you don’t have a contrasty-type scene to begin with, HDR is probably just going to make the scene worse by adding more noise. That was the situation with this shot in Downtown Dayton, Ohio. I jacked around trying to “make it work” until I had to realize that HDR brought this shot no benefit. In the end I found the end result I liked by just playing with the Levels function in Photoshop and converting to black and white.
