The Wolf Hunter

Posted: June 7, 2012 in HDR, Nikon D40, Ohio

Can you see the wolf? No, it’s not a literal wolf… it’s like one of those pictures in a picture thing, but not the kind where you have to cross your eyes and get a headache to bring into focus. Got it yet? Ok, ok, so maybe it doesn’t exactly look like a wolf… maybe like a Miniature Pincher or something, but you get the idea… Honestly I didn’t see it myself when I was composing the shot, I just liked how the stone was converging around the steps; but it was a nice hidden gem in the shot.

These are the steps leading up to Old Man’s Cave in Hocking Hills, Ohio. You walk through a small entrance in the rock which gradually opens up leads up these steps and emerges underneath the actual cave. Places like this are excellent for using a wide-angle lens. I think this shot was taken at a 10mm setting, which really allows you to get as much of the immediate area as possible and make you feel like you are really inside the cave, instead of just looking into it.
