Tunnel to the Light

Posted: May 15, 2012 in HDR, Nikon D40, Tennessee

This is another shot of the tunnel that is featured on my header. This tunnel is in downtown Memphis, Tennessee on the intersection of East Carolina Avenue and S. Main St.

We happened across this tunnel at the end of a 30 or 40 minute drive into the city to get freshly brewed beer by the growler at Ghost River Brewery. The trip was well worth it, if just for the beer! It just so happened though, that we stumbled upon this tunnel, and I told Greg (My beer connoisseur cohort) he needed to stop the car. I ran over, constantly on the look out for crack dealers, muggers, and random vagrants who might possibly scratch me, and set up for a few rounds of bracketed shots.

I think the combination of the dying natural light and the artificial lighting spilling through these columns made for some very interesting shadows besides the natural leading lines of the tunnel.
